Stairs

Sometimes life can feel a lot like waiting for an elevator to come. It can feel aggravating. I don't know about you but I'm a fairly impatient person- admittedly, its not one of my best qualities. I get irrationally angry when the elevator is taking too much time. Like get on with it already!

But I caught myself the other day in a way I wasn't expecting to... (this is not a fitness inspired post stick with me here)

You get to the elevator and push the button in hopes of the instant gratification of getting to step on to get to your destination immediately. Unfortunately depending on where you are...that's usually not the case. There's a wait period. No matter how long or short that wait period tends to be, it can be irking and unpleasant. Then here you are greeted by potentially an overfilled elevator and some generally unpleasant elevator music.

Dozens of things roll through my had at that given moment during this process- what I need to work on next, how quickly I need to rush to my next engagement, what I'm going to eat that day. That doesn't even being to cover the "can this elevator hold this much weight" part of what rolls through my head. You get the point. You're always so focused on the future instead of the now. You get caught up in the stress of everything and lose track of where you are. And before this turns into a "be present" speech, I'll get to the point. We spend time waiting for the elevator consistently when its well within many of our means to take the stairs.

Before someone comes at me and says, "I'm not walking up 20 flights of stairs." Let me clarify- we spend so much time waiting around and focusing on what's next and getting stressed when we have every ability in our hands to walk ourselves to the next level of our lives. Whether that is waiting for the next promotion, asking for a raise, maybe its to start that side hustle, or to start a new hobby there will always be an excuse to not, it's your job to find the excuse to push to the next level. You have to do whats hard instead of waiting for whats easy.

Take your life into your hands.

Life is too short to not do exactly what you love.

There is always another route to get to where you need to go. There is never just one straight path in life. Some may lead you to dead ends and some may bring you to new levels. You really will never know if you don't take the road less traveled by. If you spend too much time waiting and getting angry like the universe owed you something instead of working for it or taking the risk- then you'll never really live the life you want.

Life is too short to wait any longer.

Take the stairs.

(Also I know this was supposed to be a metaphor but really 5 floors or under take the stairs it's good for you)
